Bathroom safety and aging in place
A room-by-room guide for seniors and the families who help them.
Bathroom safety for aging in placeFor families & caregivers
Maybe you noticed your mom holding the towel bar to get out of the shower. Maybe your dad has a knee replacement on the calendar. Maybe you live three states away and just want to know the bathroom is safe. Families book grab bars for a parent all the time, and we make it easy, whether you're across town or across the country.
Our team has installed 178 grab bars in 73 home jobs since January 2024, first as HandyMangum and now as Grab Bar Heroes.
As of October 2026, from our team's 85 grab bar jobs between January 2024 and October 2026, done first as HandyMangum and now as Grab Bar Heroes. Home jobs only.
Call or text (321) 204-8477, or use the free estimate form. Tell us where your parent lives, who will use the bars, and which spots worry you.
Photos of the shower, tub, toilet, and any steps help us plan. If you're out of town, your parent, a neighbor, or a caregiver can take them on a phone.
$185 per bar, installed, with all mounting hardware included. You'll know the labor cost before we arrive, and we confirm it with whoever you tell us to.
We schedule Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM. Someone needs to be home to let us in: your parent, you, or another family member or caregiver.
Before we drill, the tech walks through each spot with the person who will use the bars. Then we mount them solid and leave the room clean.
Tell us who should get the estimate and updates: you, your parent, a sibling, or all of you. We keep you in the loop from estimate to install, so nobody has to relay messages. If you can't be there in person, let us know how you'd like to be included in the placement decisions, and we'll work it out with you before the visit.
It's also fine if your parent wants to make the calls. Some prefer to; some are relieved to hand it off. Either way, the price and the plan are the same.
Many families first call us because a parent has a hip or knee replacement on the calendar, or is about to come home from the hospital. Our guide to grab bars after surgery covers timing, the usual spots, and working with what the care team recommends. For each spot in detail, see our toilet, shower, tub, and hallway pages.
Many parents have lived in the same house for decades, and the walls show it. The age of the home matters as much as the wall finish. An older home may have plaster, block, or tile on a mortar bed; a newer one is more likely drywall on wood studs, tile over backer board, or a fiberglass surround. A wall that has been remodeled can be any mix of these, so we look before we drill. Where there's a stud or solid backing in the right spot, we fasten into it. Where there isn't, we use commercial-grade grab bar fasteners, rated by the maker for up to 600 lbs in drywall with tile and made to exceed building codes and ADA guidelines, so a bar can go exactly where it's needed even without a stud. If we ever use a different fastener, it's comparable or better. If we find a wall problem that was already there, like soft drywall or damage behind tile, we'll show you before we drill.
Every job comes with an itemized invoice listing each bar, where it was installed, and the cost. Families use it for HSA or FSA claims, VA grant paperwork, or a Medicaid case manager. We can't promise that a plan, grant, or program will approve a claim. Your plan may also ask for a letter of medical necessity from your doctor, so check with your plan administrator before you pay.
Most home grab bars in Florida are sales-tax free (bars $100 or less).
$185 per grab bar, installed, with all mounting hardware included. The bar itself is extra: use your own, or we can supply one. The most common home job, two bars, is $370 in labor. See full pricing.
Grab bars not included. Your final price is confirmed with your estimate.
Every bar we install comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own your home or building: if a bar loosens because of how we installed it, we fix it free. The bar itself is covered by its maker's warranty, and damage, misuse, and wall problems that were already there aren't covered. We also come back for a free inspection at one year. That one-year visit is also a good moment to see whether your parent's needs have changed.
We're based in the Orlando / Longwood area and install grab bars in these Central Florida cities. If your parent lives nearby and you don't see their city, call and ask.

No. Your parent, another family member, or a caregiver can be home instead. If you want a say in where the bars go, tell us how you'd like to be included and we'll work it out before the visit.
Yes. Tell us who should hear from us: you, your parent, a sibling, or all of you. We keep everyone you name in the loop from estimate to install.
We can't promise that any plan will approve a claim. Every job comes with an itemized invoice listing each bar, where it went, and the cost, ready for HSA or FSA claims, VA grant paperwork, or a Medicaid case manager. Check with the plan administrator before you pay; some ask for a letter of medical necessity.
Many people worry grab bars will make a home look like a hospital. Bars come in finishes like brushed stainless and matte black that look like ordinary bathroom hardware, and we walk through placement with your parent before we drill, so the decision stays theirs.
