Grab bar installation for your homeGrab bar installation · Mount Dora, FL
About one in three Mount Dora residents is 65 or older. That makes grab bars here less a someday project and more a now one. We install them for $185 per bar, and we can bring the bars too.
Mount Dora took its name in 1883, the year the hotel that became the Lakeside Inn opened on Lake Dora, and was incorporated in 1910. Its National Register historic district covers 711 buildings and sites, most of them homes, in styles from Queen Anne and bungalow to 1950s concrete block houses.
Census estimates show 34% of Mount Dora residents are 65 or older, well above the Florida rate of 21%. The median home was built in 1993, about 20% before 1970, and about 38% of homes are rented (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 estimates).
With that many older residents, the bars that matter most are the everyday ones: beside the toilet, at the shower or tub entry, and at the step into the house. AdventHealth Waterman, in nearby Tavares, is the closest hospital for many Mount Dora homes.
Mount Dora's older frame homes often have plaster or wood interior walls, and its 1950s block homes have concrete block walls with plaster or drywall inside. Newer homes are usually block or frame with drywall, tile over cement backer board, or fiberglass tub surrounds.
We check the wall before we drill, especially old plaster or block. No stud where the bar should go? That's what our commercial-grade grab bar fasteners are for. The maker rates them for up to 600 lbs in drywall with tile, and they're made to exceed building codes and ADA guidelines. Where a stud or blocking does line up, we use it. If we ever use a different fastener, it's comparable or better.
A long bar on the tub or shower wall and a short one at the entry is a common pairing. Our bathroom safety and aging-in-place guide explains why.
$185 per grab bar installed, one flat price wherever you are in Mount Dora. Two bars, like the Mount Dora job above, are $370 in labor.
Grab bars not included. Your final price is confirmed with your estimate.
Before we drill, your tech walks through each spot with you: who will use the bar, which hand they lead with, and where their hand naturally goes. We hold the bar up, adjust, and mark the wall only once you're happy with it. We can't promise that a plan, grant, or program will approve a claim, and some plans ask for a letter of medical necessity from your doctor, so check with your plan administrator first.
See full pricing or get a free estimate. We schedule Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM.
Every bar we install comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own your home or building: if a bar loosens because of how we installed it, we fix it free. The bar itself is covered by its maker's warranty, and damage, misuse, and pre-existing wall problems aren't covered. We also come back for a free inspection at one year.
